Rhythm2Recovery Facilitated Training

Professional Development for Professionals working in the Health, Welfare & Education Sectors

We are visiting Adelaide to deliver a workshop on a model for engaging young people and adults with rhythmic music and reflective discussions to further social and emotional development, and assist with managing adversity.

This work is used by a wide range of drug and alcohol prevention and rehabilitation services and a specific program  (12 sessions) has been developed to support people facing challenges due to drug and alcohol misuse. With a significant evidence base behind it, including its alignment to trauma informed practice and the increasing evidence on how rhythmic music can mediate the human stress response, this work is ever more timely.

It is fun, practical, and engaging and allows people who may be reluctant to engage in traditional ’talk based’ therapies to explore a wide range of life-skill and relationships issues in a safe context.

This model has been highly successful in engaging Australian Aboriginal people and others from cultural minorities who are difficult to engage.
