The 2021 NDARC Annual Research Symposium will be held from Wednesday 20 – Friday 22 October, and will include both online sessions and an in-person event.

The Symposium will showcase the breadth and diversity of research at NDARC, as well as highlight the work of our peer organisations. Leading global experts including Dr Robin Carhart-Harris and Prof David T. Courtwright will share their insights, and there will be opportunities for creating new connections and participating in dynamic discussions.

Sessions of the Symposium may be eligible to be counted as Continued Personal Development (CPD) hours*.

Wednesday, 20 October 2021 – Online

Time: 9:30am – 11:30am
Cost: Free
Topic: Emerging pharmaceutical drugs – including psychedelics and new drug treatments for addiction and mental health
Keynote speaker: Dr Robin Carhart-Harris, Head of the Centre for Psychedelic Research, Division of Brain Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.

This session will delve into emerging drug trends including psychedelics and new drug treatment for addiction and mental health disorders.

Thursday, 21 October 2021 – Online

Time: 9:30am – 11am
Cost: Free
Topic: Global patterns in opioid dependence and treatment: past history, current interventions, and future action
Keynote speaker: Presidential Professor Emeritus, David T. Courtwright, author and historian on drug use.

This session will explore opioid dependence, issues, and treatment globally. There will be a number of guest speakers, including presentations from NDARC researchers.

Friday, 22 October 2021 – In-person

Location: The Roundhouse, UNSW Sydney
Cost: $95 early bird price until 10 September 2021 ($125 full price)
