SANDAS has been approached by The Centre for Impact and Change to explore delivering an online grant writing masterclass for emerging leaders in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector.

The masterclass, The Art of Asking: Grant Writing, was originally developed and delivered within the Victorian AOD sector, with strong uptake from practitioners seeking to build practical, real‑world

grant writing skills. It is an entry‑level session designed for people responsible for developing funding submissions.

By the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to:

  • Set up a clear, practical process for writing funding submissions
  • Draft a strong funding pitch that holds a submission together
  • Address the key components of government grant applications
  • Recognise and avoid common pitfalls, drawing on real Department of Health feedback
  • Write clearly and persuasively, with impact
  • Use AI tools ethically and effectively in grant writing
  • Learn how to turn an unsuccessful submission into future success

Format:

The masterclass would be delivered online as a half‑day session, with an optional afternoon budget workshop.

Intended audience:

Managers, team leaders, coordinators, and project workers across the AOD sector.
